The Cyclomix is a high speed high shear batch mixer with a conically shaped vessel and rotating paddles that applies strong impact and shear forces on the powder, resulting in a high degree of dispersion and mixing. Compared to other high speed mixers, the shear force applied by the high speed paddles and the unique mixing principle achieves faster mixing times, and cooling/heating with the jacket has a very high efficiency. It is suited for the mixing of cohesive powders, mixing of heat sensitive or materials of low melt point, mixing of powders with liquids, mixing of wet powders, mixing and dispersion of pastes and slurries. The Cyclomix also has high performance for coating, spherionization and particle composing. The rotor is cantilevered with the drive at the top and combined with a unique discharge featuring a ball segment valve allows for the discharge of material without any holdup. The Cyclomix is suitable for mixing applications where a high level of homogeneity is required such as in the mixing of food, chemicals (polymers, toner, powdered paint), battery material, and magnetic materials.

As shown in Fig.1, the mixing vessel is conically shaped and has a central rotor, which is driven from the top. The rotor has numerous paddles, which rotate along the inner surface of the vessel. The paddles are placed in an order that creates an upward flow and downward flow in sequence. The topmost paddle has a tip speed of 20 m/s. The rotor to move along the wall accelerates the material fed into the Cyclomix. The strong centrifugal force causes the material to be pushed upward along the conically shaped vessel wall in a spiral upward movement. As the material moves upward, the increased rotor diameter accelerates the material causing strong frictional forces to be generated. This force induces shear on the material. At the top is a domed cover, which decelerates and guides the material towards the centre of the mixer. A knife blade adds further impact and shear forces to efficiently disperse the powder. This circulation of material where material is moved up and down, accelerated and decelerated, the shear forces from the paddles and between particles, and the impact force from the knife blade results in quick mixing to take place.

Fast mixing with a high level of homogeneity achieved with a unique mixing action.
The design makes efficient use of the heat transfer surface allowing for more cooling to occur when processing heat sensitive materials. Accurate control of material temperatures using jacket temperature is possible, allowing the mixing or coating of materials at a specified temperature.
The conical casing design with the full bore ball segment valve enables the easy discharge of material with no holdup.
The top cover-lifting device (optional) makes interior cleaning simple. Product changes can be done easily.
