Hosokawa Micron Group "Basic Human Rights Policy"

The Hosokawa Micron Group hereby establishes the "Hosokawa Micron Group Human Rights Policy" (hereinafter referred to as this Policy) to respect the human rights of stakeholders affected by our corporate activities and to fulfill our responsibility to promote respect for human rights by addressing any negative impacts on human rights that may arise from our own business activities.

1. Basic approach to human rights

The Hosokawa Micron Group supports and respects international norms such as the United Nations "International Bill of Human Rights" (Universal Declaration of Human Rights and International Covenant on Human Rights), the ILO "ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work," and the "OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises."

2. Scope

This Policy applies to all officers and employees (including contract employees and temporary employees) of the Hosokawa Micron Group companies worldwide. The Hosokawa Micron Group also expects its suppliers and other related parties to comply with this Policy.

3. Applicable Laws

The Hosokawa Micron Group will comply with the laws and regulations of all countries and regions in which it conducts its business activities. In addition, in the event of a discrepancy between internationally recognized human rights and the laws and regulations of each country or region, we will pursue ways to respect international human rights principles to the greatest extent possible.

4. Promotion System

The Hosokawa Micron Group will establish a system to realize this policy, and the Sustainability Officer will be responsible for overseeing compliance with and implementation of this policy.

5. Education and Awareness

The Hosokawa Micron Group will provide appropriate education to all employees (including contract employees and temporary employees) to ensure that this policy is incorporated into all business activities and is implemented, and will work to raise awareness of human rights.

6. Key Initiatives

The Hosokawa Micron Group will work on the key issues related to human rights set out in the attached table.

7. Human Rights Due Diligence

The Hosokawa Micron Group will begin considering the implementation of human rights due diligence in order to identify, prevent and mitigate adverse impacts on human rights, and fulfill accountability for these, based on the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.

8. Dialogue and consultation

In its human rights due diligence efforts, the Hosokawa Micron Group will utilize independent, external human rights expertise and engage in sincere dialogue and consultation with potentially affected groups and other relevant stakeholders.

9. Remedy and remediation

If the Hosokawa Micron Group's business activities cause or are found to be involved in adverse human rights impacts, the Group will work to remedy such impacts through appropriate procedures and dialogue.

10. Information disclosure

The Hosokawa Micron Group will disclose the status of implementation of this policy and its results on its website and in its integrated report.

The Hosokawa Micron Group will

  1. Respect human rights and conduct business activities without forced labor, child labor, or discrimination.
  2. Respect the individuality and autonomy of each individual and will not discriminate on the basis of race, nationality, sex, age, religion, creed, disability, sexual diversity, etc.
  3. We will comply with the labor-related laws and regulations of each country and region, and provide fair working conditions including working hours, holidays, vacations, wages, and benefits.
  4. We will respect employees' rights to freedom of association and collective bargaining in accordance with the laws and regulations of each country and region.
  5. We will comply with the safety and health-related laws and regulations of each country and region, and provide a safe, comfortable, and easy-to-work-in environment for everyone.
  6. We have established an internal reporting desk to prevent harassment in the workplace and to allow employees to seek advice regarding human rights issues that arise within the company. Any consultations or reports received through the internal reporting desk will be dealt with promptly and appropriately.
